The Dolphin Club was organized in 1877 and was originally limited to 25 members--men only. Women were admitted in 1976, and today the club has nearly 900 members, about one-third of them female.

The two-story clubhouse, completed in 1896 and moved to its current location in 1938, is Aquatic Park's oldest water-oriented facility in continuous use.

Although the clubhouse sits on City property and is operated as a facility of the San Francisco Recreation and Parks Department, the Club receives no public money.

All our operations are funded exclusively from membership dues and guest fees. The Club is nonprofit; officers and board of governors are elected from the membership. Only one Club member is a paid employee--the person who manages our daytime public-access program.

The Dolphin Club is a nonprofit organization open to all!
